Accipio Library

The Accipio Library contains over 3,000 pre-recorded, curriculum-matched lessons across all Accipio’s courses, giving pupils instant access to an extensive and flexible online learning resource. The Accipio Library can be accessed either as a stand-alone resource or via the school VLE.

Library lessons are pre-recorded and are accessible twenty-four hours a day, so pupils and teachers can access any lesson at any time. Specific lessons, topics or modules are found quickly and easily using the Library’s advanced search facility. Each lesson has a related extension activity allowing pupils to test their learning and teachers to monitor pupils’ progress.

Access to the library is provided on a whole school basis and is used by schools as a resource to address:

• ‘Rarely Cover’ initiatives;
• Homework, coursework and revision;
• Short term exclusions and day 6 provision;
• Short term absence for medical reasons;
• Lesson planning and enrichment;
• Extended school initiatives

The Library is an ideal way to provide excluded pupils or those at risk of exclusion with lessons at home or in an inclusion setting.  Whatever stage of the curriculum they have reached, pupils can access the relevant lesson to allow them to continue their studies.  For other pupils, it can provide flexible support to assist with homework, coursework and exam revision.   The Library also provides a resource for teachers to collate a full set of materials for excluded pupils to use within the school inclusion setting or at home, during the term of any fixed term exclusion and from day one onwards!

The Library can also assist schools with “rarely cover” when there is no subject-specialist available, with easy access to content and extension activities that can be used with an entire class. 

The Library has recently been upgraded to make it even more user-friendly and every lesson has been re-recorded to bring it up-to-date for the current school year.

The Library is now available on a 3-year licence and enables access for a whole school to Accipio’s entire Key Stage 3 & 4 and Basic Skills curriculum.  Included in the cost of a licence are training and refresher sessions for teaching staff who will be making use of the Library with their pupils, ongoing updates to content and general upgrades to the Library software itself.
