Monitoring the effectiveness of educational provision is a basic requirement that any external provider should be able to deliver. Accipio’s approach to reporting and assessment is extremely thorough, providing the capability to assess throughout each pupil’s educational journey and delivering simple to use, contract level reporting. Our assessment methodology can be split into three distinct elements.
Baseline and Summative Assessment (GOAL and Basic Skills Diagnostics)
All pupils enrolled with Accipio can be assessed from a baseline perspective when they first arrive. This assessment is optional for most courses but it is of particular value when little or no assessment data is available and ensures that:
Pupils are placed in classes that match their academic capabilities
Weaker areas of knowledge in specific subjects are identified
Accurate and appropriate educational objectives can be set for each pupil
Baseline assessment is offered for all Accipio’s courses. The same assessments can be run at any time during the pupil’s time with Accipio as a summative assessment tool.
Lesson Registers and Progress Monitoring
Accipio operates an online reporting system that allows school or local authority staff to generate pupil reports whenever they wish. The reports include information on a pupil’s attendance and performance in each lesson, the extension activities they have completed, their marks and the Library lessons that they have accessed.
The lesson reports allow mentors to access detailed information on each of their pupils on a daily basis. Mentors are able to track their pupils’ performance, assess their responses to different subjects and their levels of interaction. Mentors can quickly identify if a pupil is having difficulties, allowing early and more effective intervention. More often, the reports reflect a pupil’s growing level of confidence and engagement in learning, giving the mentor the opportunity to reiterate the praise given by the Accipio teacher.
Similarly, the reports on the pupils’ extension activities (Challenge Sheets) give the learning mentor an up-to-date insight into the engagement and performance of each of their pupils.
Statistical reports give a longer term overview of a pupil’s progress. Local authorities and schools find these very useful both in monitoring their pupils and as a way to provide clear evidence of progress for OFTSED inspections.
Formative Assessment
Every live lesson is accompanied by a Challenge Sheet . This forms a daily and weekly formative assessment of each pupil’s understanding of the learning and lesson objectives set by their Accipio teacher. Challenge Sheets are provided in an online format, completed and transmitted electronically to their Accipio teacher, marked and stored in the pupil’s own Challenge Sheet area (E-Portfolio).
All Challenge Sheet results can then be reported on electronically at both a pupil and contract or cohort level with the additional capability to explore in detail the pupils’ answers and the corresponding marks and comments by their teacher
